What is Royal Caribbean Runners?

RCCL Royal Caribbean cruiseRoyal Caribbean Runners is an exciting new initiative from Royal Caribbean International, Sport England and Run England, aimed at promoting health and fitness through the creation of organised running groups. Launching initially in London, the groups consist of 10-15 runners, of all ages and abilities, are free to join and are led by a qualified Run England group leader. Over a minimum 12-week period, the group will run together regularly, encouraging and helping each other along the way.

As an added incentive, all those who complete the 12-week running course will be entered into a prize draw to win an amazing 7-night cruise holiday for two, on board the incredible Independence of the Seas, sailing from Southampton.

Runners who sign up will also receive a Royal Caribbean Runners T-shirt, and to help you keep up your training if you last the distance over 12 weeks, you’ll be rewarded with a fantastic running jacket. If you would like to start up a group, then we are offering an iPod shuffle to leaders who have been trained and recruited 10 or more runners. A little added incentive to encourage your friends and family to get into their trainers. Stocks are limited so sign up now!

You can find your nearest group by heading to www.runengland.org/groups and searching using the keywords "Royal Caribbean". Find out more about Royal Runners by clicking here.

Joining a running group can help you get the motivation and safety you need whether you are beginning your running journey, have got a taste for running and would like to improve or if you’re returning to running after a long layoff. Run England is the official England Athletics recreational running initiative which aims to get the nation running. Regardless of your age, fitness level, aspiration, background or location you can be a part of England’s running community. Important: if you are part of a Royal Caribbean Runners group, make sure you join Run England via this page rather than using our standard sign up form.

Fitness has always played a key part in my life and I’m thrilled to be sharing this passion to help get people motivated and taking their first running steps. Getting involved is easy and whether you’re a seasoned athlete, a weekend warrior or a beginner looking to start your first run, the Royal Caribbean Runners groups are making now the time to do it.”

All Run England groups must be led by qualified leaders with a valid coaching licence.  Most of our leaders have taken the Leadership in Running Fitness qualification which focusses specifically on how to lead a group of beginners or recreational runners. Others have another UKA recognised coaching qualification. All must have an up to date CRB check for their licence to be valid.

How to set up a running group:run england newsletter logo

  1. Have an enthusiasm for running and a desire to help beginners to get involved in the sport you love!
  2. Get a valid and current UKA recognised licence to lead a group. This is usually done by taking the Leadership in Running Fitness qualification and then completing the CRB check to receive a licence.
  3. Register your group by supplying the details online (please do not do this until you have received your licence). Remember - it is important to register your group on this page to enjoy the benefits of being a Royal Caribbean Runners group. If you would like to take advantage of these benefits, do not register your group on our standard 'set up a group' page.
  4. After we have checked your licence is valid and current we will then register your group on the Run England Group Finder map at www.runengland.org/groups.
  5. You can then enjoy the benefits of being a registered group and leader.
